Ozona Organics Recalls Probiotics for Dogs and Cats
Ozona Organics is voluntarily recalling a slew of its probiotic products, including those designed for dogs and cats.
The Texas-based company announced Tuesday that it was recalling Ozona Organics Probiotics for Dogs and Ozona Organics Probiotics for Cats "in their entirety." Ozona is also recalling products for humans, horses, and swine.
In its news release, Ozona said it was recalling the human products because of the "high water activity" in the products that could encourage microbial growth. Some microbes—like viruses and bacteria—can be helpful while others can make our pets sick. The Ozona release wasn't clear if the pet products were recalled for the same reason.
Ozona also said "no illnesses have been reported" in connection with the recall, but it was again unclear whether the company was only referring to its human products.

The probiotics for dogs and cats came in 4-ounce bottles made of blue glass with droppers. They were sold at ozonaorganics.com and distributed from August 2021 through July 2023.
Untainted probiotics can help keep pets healthy, encouraging better digestive health and limiting the effects of allergies and skin conditions. They serve as supplements, so pets usually need medication to combat more serious health issues.
The Ozona Organics probiotics for dogs and cats were designed to promote good gut health and "nutrient absorption."
If you have any of the recalled products, stop using them immediately and throw them away.
